What's in the bag
A dark roast without the bitterness
Dark coffee doesn't have to taste burnt. It starts with well grown beans and a roast that's taken far, but not too far.
Naturally low acid
The darker the roast, the more acidity cooks out. A good choice if bright, acidic coffee doesn't sit well with you.
Regeneratively grown
Grown by small farm cooperatives with methods that build the soil up instead of wearing it down.
Independently lab tested
Tested for mold, mycotoxins, pesticides, and glyphosate, so you know what's in your cup.
Brews any way you like
Rich in a drip machine or French press, and bold enough for lattes and cappuccinos.
Why we lab test our coffee
Coffee starts as a fruit, and like any harvest it can pick up things you'd rather not drink. Mold can take hold on the farm, while the beans dry, or in storage, and some molds leave behind compounds called mycotoxins. Farming chemicals like pesticides and glyphosate can drift in from nearby fields. You'd never notice any of it by sight, smell, or taste, and it isn't something most people think to ask about.
We think about it. That's why we send our coffee to an independent lab to test for mold, mycotoxins, pesticides, and glyphosate. We want to know exactly what we're putting our name on.
The name
After Dark is about the roast, not the clock
Most beans come out of the roaster somewhere in the light to medium range. After Dark keeps going, past the point where the beans turn deep brown and their oils start to show. That longer roast is where the chocolate and toasted oak notes come from, along with the heavy body and low acidity.
It starts with beans from small farm cooperatives that grow coffee regeneratively. A dark roast has nowhere to hide, and slower grown beans are what keep After Dark smooth instead of bitter.
Brew it however you like. It's rich and full in a drip machine or French press, and bold enough to stand up in a latte or cappuccino.

Brewing tips
Getting the most from a dark roast
- 1Match the grind to the method
Coarse for French press, medium for drip, fine for espresso.
- 2Go a little cooler
Dark roasts extract easily, so water around 195°F keeps the cup rich instead of harsh.
- 3Start with 2 tablespoons per 6 oz
Then adjust a little at a time until it's as bold as you like it.

Questions
Good to know
Is After Dark an evening coffee?
No, the name refers to how dark it's roasted. It's a full strength coffee, so enjoy it whenever you'd normally have a cup.
Is it low acid?
Yes. The darker a coffee is roasted, the more of its natural acidity cooks off. After Dark is our lowest acid coffee, so it's a good choice if bright, acidic coffee doesn't sit well with you.
What's the best way to brew it?
However you like it. Drip, French press, and pour over all bring out its depth, and it also works well for espresso and espresso based drinks.
What do you test for?
We have our coffee tested by an independent lab for mold, mycotoxins, pesticides, and glyphosate.
Where are the beans grown?
We source from small farm cooperatives that grow coffee using regenerative practices.
How fresh is it?
We roast in small batches every week. Keep the bag sealed and grind just before you brew for the best flavor.
Is it whole bean or ground?
Whole bean, in a 12 oz bag. Grinding right before you brew keeps the flavor at its best.
